Hi there I'm new here and to the PS4linux scene on a whole. I've gotten very interested in this project and wish to create my own Manjaro distro to run on my ps4. I followed the instructions here and created my virtual machine and backed it up and installed the tar.xz onto a USB drive and finally ran on my jailbroken v9 ps4 all that process was flawless however when the distro booted the screen was just black. I used tty to look around and tried to startx but at that point the hdmi connection was lost. I figure i need to install the custom ps4 graphics arch drivers which i've downloaded but now i need the instructions for pacman to delete the current drivers and install the custom ones, the tutorials don't cover arch based systems. I used sudo pacman -R mesa but that wont allow me to because of dependencies. Could you please provide detail instructions on how to remove and install all the drivers needed. Thanks

ibard May I know where you have downloaded the drivers from. And, as for removing current drivers, on Arch-based distros, removing older drivers are required only if the names of the drivers are different. For eg., if the installed drivers are named mesa- and your drivers are named - mesa-ps4 .

ibard Go to the GitHub page in the link and clone the repo. Then go into each folder in SRC and run makepkg -sri as explained in the post. You might have to install package building dependencies before that. Google will help. If that doesn't work, you might have to make your own PKGBUILD with the latest version of Mesa. Reply with the status and I will try to help when time permits.

Ok. I have much to report. I followed your advice and cloned the git repo and tried installing from source unfortunately that was a bust, as you predicted dependencies issues put paid to that. On a hunch i then just went back to the compiled drivers folder and then doubled clicked each driver and easy enough pamac did the rest and installed the drivers and removed the original drivers shipped with the manjaro 22.0 that were in conflict. I backed up the distro and installed via ps4 psxitarch script that too went flawless and this time the system did boot with the GUI. I logged in and started to test stuff out. The wifi and bluetooth ran flawless on the 5.4.2 bzImage. Everything was great until i tried opening Kodi wich immediately just shut down from a black screen each time. I then noticed a notification in the system tray re: software rendering. I opened it up and saw this: After trying different settings there was no change. It seems the GPU is not being utilized by this setup and any program that relies on hardware acceleration is a no go. I hopped back over to the VM and sure enough after the custom PS4 drivers were installed i got the same notification there as well. If i re-install original drivers I'm back at square one no GUI. Any suggestions to resolve the issue? Is this just an Arch based problem? Or do the other distros have this problem as well?

Can you confirm if this is a PS4 Pro? Run these commands and post what you see - vkcube (Install with sudo pacman -S vulkan-tools ) glxinfo -B | grep string (Install with sudo pacman -S mesa-demos )

Check if LLVM is installed and run ls /usr/share/vulkan/icd.d and tell me what you see. This seems to be a driver installation issue.

ibard I see, you have installed LLVM-15. Uninstall LLVM 15 and try installing version 13.

I was testing out a hunch and reinstalled the current mesa driver from the official manjaro repo and sure enough after it replaced the custom mesa-ps4 the software rendering seized and all the programs that require hardware acceleration started to work. The problem however was now a distorted screen. strange enough though the video files i tested were ok.

reinstalled custom driver back to square one.

noob404 I installed LLVM13 as well however I cannot replace LLVM15 as it will not allow as it would break several dependencies.

PARTIAL SOLUTION
Replacing the lib32-mesa-ps4 22.3.xx with the current version from the official repo has solved the desktop distortion and all programs now run with the mesa-ps4 22.3.xx driver. Only flatpaks seem to still show a distorted interface. I will interchange the others drivers and see if that will sort the remaining issue.

First make sure you have the ps4 video drivers. (Replace vim with your text editor of choice.)
Run sudo vim /etc/pacman.conf
Add this text to the end of the file if it doesn't exist already.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried them but had to revert to the mesa-ps422.3xx. The flatpak was still distorted and then i was not able to logout nor shutdown. I restored only the mesa and things are back to normal.

Here is the solution. Requirements: yay(to install downgrade), downgrade.

yay -S downgrade
sudo downgrade llvm-libs lib32-llvm-libs

Choose llvm-libs 14.0.6 4
Choose lib32-llvm-libs 14.0.6 3
Enter y to add both to the block list.

-Edit: Downgrade lib32-llvm-libs for wine to work.

nickcat325 I did this as well and it helped my yuzu emulator detect the graphics card with vulkan.
