hello i want mt7668 support on my belize ps4 but i discovered that the modified bzimage also requires the initramfs with firmware but i want linux install to my hdd so i cant use that initramfs so i put the firmware in the hdd boot initramfs from modded warfare (using your tutorial) and booted it with your mt7668 codedwrench kernel. i already tested unmodified modded warfare initramfs with the unmodified codedwrench kernel and it works. but my modified modded warfare initramfs with your mt7668 codedwrench kernel panics. i put it in my own hands to compile the bzimage myself (codedwrench belize 5.15 with saya patches and mediatek combo chip drivers i grabbed from the source of firestick tv linux kernel 4.4) and i wanna now make initramfs compatible with it that can boot from the hdd and has the proper firmware assuming i still need it to have that with the new bzimage i compiled
side note it booted properly second time because it gave me a strange 8/9mb file the first time i recompressed the initramfs so i made a new one assuming something is wrong with the 1st initramfs compression and it booted properly with that one. but no signs of any wifi working when the kernel was loading like "[wlan]" and when it finished booting no wlan just as i expected
I will soon be opensourcing latest kernels for Belize and Baikal with VPN support, MT7668 WiFi/BT and DNS fix.
where did you find the mt7668 drivers to go in the kernel source?, right know i have compiled kernel with mediatek connectivity drivers from firesticktv 4k because it is for the mt7668 i have yet to test it since i am getting working on modifying initramfs no success but i compiled one with the firmware folder packed in to the kernel so im gonna boot it with an unmodified initramfs and see if it work
this thread is useless now since i no longer want to modify initram, i am gonna use CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE for kernel instead , just hoping you can release source for kernel 5.15 mt7668 code so i can do that pls pls
abcdefg123 I personally tried setting CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE but the kernel just won't see them, because of how the kernel is built. For now, initram is the way to go. As for the kernel, it will be opensourced later this month or early July.
CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE
