Hello, I did some research and I managed to find out that mesa above 21.0 broke this Commit 6e7008e9 if you remove these changes, then the versions above also work, but this is not complete solution, also in mesa 22 this function was heavily reworked so it won’t work so just you need to figure out what’s the matter, unfortunately for me it’s a dark forest and it takes a lot of time to figure it out and do something, I hope there are people here who this is better understood and we can understand how to fix it correctly. Also, from observations with changes from a commit, applications continue to work if you run them with a window size of 400x400 or so on mesa 22, this also works, but if you stretch the window, the system freezes.

zerobou This is definitely an awesome work. I know the troubles you went to work through each and every commit to finally find the faulty one. I will try to remove the commit changes and maybe we could finally have the best Mesa for every distro. And, keep up the good work, my man!

it seems that in mesa22.2 there are still changes that break support for pro, if you fix this function on 22.2, then the mesa only works with llvm, until the fix the system will be frozen without recovery when using llvm. On 21.3, both llvm and aco work, but when using the aco on 22.2, this fix does not affect the behavior, the problem remains the same as initially, the system freezes, but not like on 21.1-21.3, if the program is run with a window size less than 400x400, then everything works, if the window is stretched, the system will freeze, but if at this moment the window is squeezed back, then after a while the gpu will restart and work will continue.

zerobou Had the exact same issue (aco working on windowed mode only) on some versions of Mesa like 21.8, I guess.

hello if anyone wants to test here is mesa for ps4 pro mesa21.3-devel for ps4 pro, for fedora based distro. mesa22.0-devel for ps4 pro, for fedora based distro. mesa22.1-devel for ps4 pro, for fedora based distro. mesa21.3 for ps4 pro, for arch based distro. If you are testing it is possible to write back how it works since I only do minimal tests.

The version 22.1 worked with nobara7 on a ps4slim CUH-2016A. Thanks for this.

zerobou Is this only for ps4 pro or it works on ps4 phat because i want to install fedora 35 by noob but i want to upgrade mesa because the mesa version on his distro is 21.3.8 and i want to upgrade to 22.1 and also if i wanted to upgrade to let's say mesa 23.0.0 git do i just have to download it from a site or it has to be a specific mesa for ps4 ?

OmaeWaMouShindeiru This particular mesa is for pro models only. Assuming you're on a fedora based distro you could just install the nobara 36 drivers, I think its on mesa 23.

OmaeWaMouShindeiru If I remember correctly, I had the same issue when building fedora 37. --skip-broken will not work, try --allowerasing.

Blackdragon Depends on the distro and many other factors including the Mesa version itself. I have generally found that at times, the steps for driver creation are just not straightforward. With each version, you might have to adapt. What worked for one version and one distro might not work for another.

The thing about chatgpt is, if it wasnt in the dataset used to train it, it doesnt "know" it. Case in point its world knowledge only goes up to 2021, anything that happened in the last couple years wont be in its knowldge base.

There could be a situation where you could train a locally run model on a ps4 linux specific dataset but that would be a lot more work than figuring out how to patch the drivers.
